It's a fact, kids love playing with boxes. Elmer's product manager Alicia Buter says recycled boxes can also be used to make unique and personalized storage boxes. Using assorted recycled boxes such as Kleenex boxes or cereal boxes Buter suggests making a crafty storage box for plastic bags. Foam sheets can be cut to fit the box and glued on with tacky glue with a hole cut out of the centre for the bags to be stuck in. Any materials found on hand in the craft cupboard can then be used to decorate the box. Foam shapes and chenille stems will jazz the box up and foam letters can be used to spell out any message. Using the tacky glue again, the decorations can be stuck in place. This is also a good idea for reusing other recyclables around the house such as covering and decorating tin cans to be used as a pencil holder. Buter always recommends cutting out a pattern on paper before cutting the foam. This ensures you have enough foam to complete your project and make sure you are happy with the pattern before cutting into a foam sheet.
